PLOTTING POST: EVENT 002
| INITIATING F.O.G. PROTOCOL |
I. It lives in the mist(Jul 5 - Jul 8)![]() i̵n̴i̶t̶i̴a̷t̸i̷n̶g̵ ̴F̴.̴O̴.̵G̴.̵ ̶p̵r̶o̷t̵o̴c̵o̶l̶.̶.̵.̸ f̷a̵c̶i̶a̵l̸ ̸r̶e̶c̶o̵g̶n̴i̶t̶i̷o̸n̷ ̴d̴i̶s̸a̸b̴l̴e̵d̴.̸.̶.̶ The weather in the Nameless City has always been dreary, but today you wake up to a peculiar chill in the air. A thick and impenetrable fog, which once lingered on the coast and obscured the horizon, has rolled in to claim the majority of the island. Fortunately, the city area surrounding the hospital stands as an oasis at its center. The fog hangs heavy for days, inspiring a strange sluggishness among members of the populace. For those brave enough to wander into the thick of it, they will find it quite unnavigable. Not only is it impossible to see beyond one’s own nose, but any navigation tools (technological and magical alike) fail in the most unusual ways. Inevitably, explorers find themselves circling back to where they began. What’s worse, anyone who comes in contact with the fog - whether they breathe it in or not - will find themselves forgetting... well, anything. Names. Faces. Where they came from or what they were doing. Even dear friends might seem as anonymous strangers to them. Some people appear to be more affected by lethargy and forgetfulness than others. Regardless, it probably won’t take long to discover that an Auspicious Act clears those symptoms right up, even with someone you feel you've never met before. After all, doesn't something hot to drink and another warm body to curl up with sound comfortable? . . .D̶o̵ ̷n̴o̸t̷ ̶f̸o̸r̴g̷e̴t̷ ̵y̵o̴u̷r̸ ̴p̷u̵r̶p̸o̵s̷e̵.̸ II. Home of the latest by Chuck T*ngle(Jul 8 onwards)![]() In a few days’ time, the fog has retreated to the edges of the city, marking a clear boundary between the Nameless City and the desolate wastelands beyond. Yet, the terrain isn’t exactly how Erku’s newest inhabitants will remember it: the ‘bots have been hard at work reconstructing the city library! You won’t find any books inside, however. Instead, the (slightly dingy, perhaps still a little structurally unsound) building archives media data chips that can be freely downloaded to your bracelet device. Or, if you prefer, you might be interested in purchasing a tablet-like electronic reader to peruse your selections on a larger screen. These devices cost roughly 200 credits and their function will be explained by one of the few attending robots navigating the shelves. " Y̴o̶u̴ ̴m̷u̴s̷t̵ n̵'ot̷ ̵b̶e̷n̷d̴ ̴t̶h̶e̵ ̵t̷i̵n̶e̷s̶.̴ " Unfortunately, much of the data from the ancient Auspicious Age remains corrupted. The robots are working on restoring as much of the information as possible, but in the meantime, they have made available the files they believed most interesting to their organic guests… that is to say, racy novels and films. The robot attendants are apologetic about the situation when asked for alternative materials, but they suggest that perhaps the Augur is listening to your needs! III. Don't forget to wash before you enter(Jul 8 onwards)![]() Welcome, lifeform. ...Person. All is as foretold. Welcome. Please initiate a c̷l̸e̶a̵n̸s̴i̵n̴g̴ ̷r̵i̸t̴u̸a̶l̷. The retreating fog reveals something else: plumbing infrastructure is back in order within the city, and the formerly empty pools of the bathhouse have filled as if overnight. Warm, welcoming steam rising from the mineral-rich waters of the open pools. When prompted, the native robots relay ancient claims that the water has healing properties for organic lifeforms, though they can’t elaborate on any details. They don’t seem to have much to say about gender segregation, either. Nevertheless, the temperature is just perfect for the chilly weather, and those who strip down and dip their toes in may find their muscles soothed and their minds cleared of the mysterious effects of the fog... not to mention any other worries or reservations they might have arrived with. As long as you’re in the water, you feel perfectly at peace. So why not relax for a while and enjoy some skinship with your fellow arrivals? Please feel free to plot in the comments here. Oran Vegalthon | D&D OC
Canon: Original Character (D&D 5e from Waterdeep in the Forgotten Realms, specifically)
A5: A5 and general preferences list
Permissions: It's still a bit of a WIP, let me know if you have any questions!
Plans:
-Oran will be lost in the mist, caught up in it while exploring. He's already had complete amensia once, so I'd love to have him meet up with anyone else who's had a near death experience, amnesia, or feels guided by the fates--if not cognizant of it during this event, something they can talk about after!
-I'm playing Oran as a slow-burn for smutting (he'll get there eventually but I like to pace things out) so some near misses or negotiation would be nice. He'll be in the bathhouse and very chill, but will probably be quick to admit that he doesn't really know what he's doing with being intimate. He's rather more likely to make friends who won't judge him for his weird body. So... anyone who's very chill about semi-alien looking people, or who is themselves obviously not-quite-human would be welcome!
here's his top-level!

Also! We should figure out what their place is like so our characters have things to strive for to fill out their 'temporary' home! Everyone else here appears to be making a fancy place to live. I'd love to work on a description page or something.

Books and findings for Even, too?

Sounds like we're going to have them actually find a new place partway through this event rather than before it hits?

I'm still working out how to display his body; those markings are more like inverted scarring than big ridges and bumps--my art skills are super rusty so I'll hopefully have a better version soonish. Never the less, bring on the ?!?!?; I think he'll be similarly very concerned about lycanthropy, knowing it as something most folks want chased down by adventurers. :X It'll be nice to have them meet in a way that they can challenge those old paradigms.
